Setting up an effective and efficient Network Operations Center (NOC) is not a trivial undertaking. It will require input from many stakeholders within your organisation and require high level design and planning to ensure good implementation.

Once implemented, keeping a network running smoothly for users is only half the battle. IT and networks teams must also proactively run projects to continue to evolve IT strategies and explore new technologies and software. Often these projects will be short to medium term in duration and will always require resourcing. Existing staff within the organisation can either keep doing their daily tasks, or can move onto the new project, either option will stretch existing resources often beyond what they can handle. Organisations are often unwilling to hire new staff due to legal and quality issues.
